GAIN controls the amount of gain from the first stage, TONE controls the amount of treble in the output, and VOLUME adjusts the overall volume out of the pedal. A MODE switch has been added to easily switch between different clipping modes, vintage (UP) and modern (DOWN). I bought these for a family party for soup. I was nervous they were going to be flimsy and cheap. I was pleasantly surprised how thick and sturdy they are! They were a perfect size for a smaller bowl of soup or chili. We even used them in the microwave for left overs and they held up great! There was no sagging or getting soggy which I was also worried about. They are definitely good quality. They are much better than the Walmart or cheap off brands. I also loved the price. I thought they were a great deal for the quality and quantity. The only con I had was some were hard to pull apart. It was no big deal though. I will definitely buy them again.
