The bottle opener is rechargeable, the aerator needs 4AAA batteries, it also comes with a really nice wine stopper that you have to pull up and push down a few times when you put it on your wine and it will keep it fresh for up to 7 days. Now I can forget about those hard to use manual openers that I have never been able to open a bottle of wine on my own but now I am able to do it in less than a minute and it is so amazing!
